Welcome to Torun, famous because is where Copernicus was born (Kopernik in polish, and as you know is the man who wrote the book that all of us use to read every night "de revolutionibus orbium coelestium"), because it has more than 300 monuments registered in the history of European art, because of the ginger bread, and because it's the city with more chuches in Poland (comparing with the number of inhabitants, of course)

Y como no, queridos niños y niñas llegó el momento de nuestra leyenda:
Érase que se era una ciudad llamada Torun plagada de ranas por culpa de una bruja vengativa, pero afortunadamente había por allí un alfarero que tocaba el violín muy bien (según el gusto de las ranas, claro) así que se puso a tocar y con su melodiosa melodía atrajo a las ranas que le siguieron abandonando así la ciudad.

And of course, my dear sweethearts, now is the moment for our legend:
Once upon a time, there was a city called Torun, fulled of frogs because of a vengeful witch, but fortunately there was a potter in this city, who played violin really good (according to the taste of the frogs, of course), so he began to play and with his wonderful melody he attracted the frogs which followed him and left the city.
Este burrito es un monumento que hicieron a un bonito presente que los españoles hicieron a esta ciudad, que en realidad... era un instrumento de tortura, cuando alguien robaba o hacía algo malo, tenía que subirse al burrito (que como veis en el medio tiene un adorno no demasiado confortable) se tumbaba y se agarraba a las patas y se quedaba así en la plaza del pueblo y así todos los demás podían ver como sufría, que eso de ver sufrimiento siempre ha sido muy del gusto español.

This donkie is a monument, built in conmemoration of a beautiful present that Spain make to this city, actually the donkie was... a torture instrument, when the people steal something or made something bad, they should go on the donkie (and as you can see in the middle there is an unconfortable detail) so they had to lied on them and catch the legs and be like that in the middle of the main square, in that way everybody could see how they were suffering, because see suffering is something very spanish.
Este es Filus esperando por su amo el profesor Filutek, comic que escribía Zbigniew Lengren y en cuyo honor se creo esta estatua, dicen que tocar a Filus da buena suerte, por eso algunas partes brillan más de lo debido.

This is Filus, waiting for its owner professor Filutek, this was Zbigniwe Lengren comic, and they made this statue because of him, people say that touch Filus gives good luck, that's the reason why some parts of him are so bright.
